About Us

I'm Michelle Walker, founder of FTOS Collective (From The Other Side Collective) and host of the From The Other Side Podcast.

For over 20 years, I've worked within state service systems, helping families navigate some of the most challenging and emotional moments of their lives. Through that experience, I discovered something important: many families aren't struggling because they don't care—they're struggling because they don't understand the system they're trying to navigate.

When people become involved with Children's Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, child support, or other government agencies, they are often overwhelmed by unfamiliar processes, confusing terminology, and high-stakes decisions. Fear, frustration, and misinformation can make an already difficult situation even harder.

That's why I created FTOS Collective.

My mission is simple: to help families understand the system before the system overwhelms them.

Through consulting, education, advocacy, and the From The Other Side Podcast, I provide practical guidance, real-world insights, and compassionate support to individuals and families navigating state systems. My goal is not to tell people what they want to hear—it's to help them understand how these systems work, what their options are, and how they can move forward with confidence and clarity.

The name From The Other Side reflects a unique perspective. Having worked within state systems, I've seen both the intentions behind policies and the realities families experience when those policies are put into practice. I believe that understanding both sides creates better communication, better outcomes, and stronger families.
